Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will visit Saudi Arabia from Feb. 16 to Feb. 20, the local newspaper El Nacional reported on Tuesday.
Chavez has been planning to visit the OPEC members to establish a dialog to continue strengthen the OPEC role in the Energy.
An official at the Foreign Ministry confirmed that President Chavez will accept the invitation of Saudi Arabia to visit that country. No details of the trip were available, at this time.
"The trip is going ahead and will be officially confirmed shortly, I expect," the official said on the condition of anonymity. Chavez has sought to strengthen Venezuela's ties with its fellow OPEC members since he took office in February 1999, according to Bridge News.
