Dubai’s Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) recently announced the opening of a Cardio-thoracic Center within the premises of Dubai Hospital. The new care facility includes the most modern diagnostic equipment, cardiovascular laboratories, cardiac operating theatres, coronary care unit, cardiac rehabilitation and other critical services.
The new center has been opened as part of the continuous development process that has been underway since Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai appointed the new Board of Directors in DOHMS. It was built under the direction of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Industry, UAE and the President of the Department of Health and Medical Services and Qasim Sultan, Chairman of DOHMS.
Uniquely, it will offer the latest cardiology and vascular procedures, treatment and care in a centralized, accessible location. Rather than traveling to distant locations, the new center will now become the ideal choice for heart patients.
The Centre has two consultant physicians, three specialists in Cardio-thoracic surgery, two Registrars and two coronary anesthesia specialists. There are intensive coronary care units for five patients. The Centre will also offer one of the latest surgical procedures for Heart Surgery called ‘Beating Heart Surgery' which involves surgeons carrying out coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG) while the heart is still beating.
The Cardiology unit at the Dubai Hospital maintained an extraordinary 97-98 percent success rate in the past handling the full range of coronary complaints. The new independent center will also handle referrals from Rashid Hospital, Al Maktoum Hospital and Al Wasl Hospital. — (menareport.com)
