US-based Cardiac Science will outfit hospitals in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan and Iran with 138 Artema(R)-brand patient monitors and 50 emergency defibrillators. The orders shipped during this quarter to local Cardiac Science distribution partners in the four countries totaled approximately $1.3 million, confirmed a press release.
The equipment will be used to outfit an expansion of an existing Artema(R)-equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Faneteer Hospital in Eastern Saudi Arabia and installed in various Khaneh Sazie hospitals in Iran, as well as an ICU in the Children's Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan and numerous ICU departments at hospitals in Turkey.
“We expect sales for the second quarter of 2002 in our international market segment to exceed three million dollars, which is nearly double what we estimated," stated Cardiac Science President and CEO, Raymond W. Cohen. Emergency defibrillators and patient monitors sold exclusively into international markets have become an important part of the Cardiac Science product line since the Company purchased Stockholm-based Artema Medical AB last November.
