Canon Middle East today announced that it has signed an agreement with the Dubai Internet City (DIC) to become the first major Japanese technology company to take its place at the DIC. This announcement was made as Canon Middle East makes the change from being a local representative office to officially becoming a full-fledged autonomous regional Canon subsidiary.
Canon Middle East, based in Dubai, UAE, now becomes the central hub to manage the expected strong growth. Mohammad Al Gergawi, director general of the Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority, and chairman of Dubai Internet City, commented on the partnership, “Canon forecasts strong regional growth and we, as their partners, shall offer them the ideal grounds to facilitate such a growth.”
Kozo Yamamoto made the announcement today in his first visit to Dubai in his capacity as vice president for Canon Europa. “The Middle East has been a particularly successful market for Canon. We grew here by nearly 50 percent over this past year, with strong gains in all of our major markets in this region.”
