The International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) exhibition, which will open in Cannes, France, on December 10, 2002, has staged a dedicated Middle East launch, during the currently held Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai.

This is the first regional launch outside Europe, as organizers—LTM Media Ltd in association with Reed Travel Exhibitions—say that the area is well positioned to attract a slice of the global upmarket tourism services and products sector, representing one fifth of total worldwide travel expenditure.

“Luxury travel is an industry in its own right representing the elite three percent of travelers worldwide who account for 20 percent of total annual travel expenditure,” said David Hammond, LTM Media exhibition director. Five star dining, shopping and activity holidays are the most popular travel trends among international young affluent travelers, said Hammond.

“The Middle East and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states in particular boast a wealth of high end luxury hotels, shopping malls and desert safaris and other action-packed packages, making it a key target for us,” said Hammond. — (menareport.com)
