Kuwait is expected to name Adel al-Subaih new Kuwait oil minister MPs and sources said saturday acording to press agencies. Khaled al-Fulaij, former head of the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the named candidate for the job, has turned down the offer, a source said.
The government resigned last month. His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah was reappointed prime minister and asked to form a new cabinet.
Adel al-Subaih, U.S.-educated engineer is the current Electricity and Water Minister and the Minister of State for Housing Affairs.
The Kuwait Times reported that Abdul-Malek al-Gharabali, a former official at the Central Bank of Kuwait, is also being considered for the oil minister's post, and is ready to accept this portfolio.
Kuwait has an output capacity of about 2.3 million bpd, and produces 2.021 million bpd under a pledged OPEC cap. The country has about a tenth of the world's proven oil reserves.
