British construction firm Balfour Beatty has collaborated with Arab Contractors in building the Alexandria Library in Egypt. The new $120 million facility, located close to the ancient site of the original Bibliotecha Alexandria, will have its opening ceremony next month. International donors have contributed to the project, which is now on the verge of completion. It will contain around 500,000 volumes and showcase many of Egypt's ancient treasures.

The United Kingdom (UK) is the largest non-Arab investor in Egypt, estimated at $3.2 billion in the last two years alone. The main UK exports to Egypt during 2001 were Telecom and sound recording equipment, power generating machinery, general industrial equipment, medical and pharmaceutical products, electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances. — (menareport.com)
