During a visit made by President of the Export Promotion Agency in Brazil Juan Quiros, to the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) this morning, Quiros stated that Brazil plans to organize a promotional week in Dubai, and that it currently adopts a new economic policy which aims to consolidate relations with a number of Regional Trade Centers in the world, amongst them Dubai.
This decision comes from appreciating the position Dubai has on the Middle East Economic map. The Second Vice President at the Dubai Chamber Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi received a top Brazilian delegation this morning, which included the President of the Export Promotion Agency in Brazil, the President of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, and a number of Brazilian officials. The meeting was also attended by Flavio Moreira Sapha, the Brazilian Ambassador, Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwee, the Director General of the Dubai Chamber, and a number of officials from the Chamber.
Al-Shamsi pointed out at the beginning of the meeting, the huge economic potential Brazil has on the exports level, as well as the industrial and agricultural produce. But said that this potential does not correspond with Brazil's share which does not exceed 50 percent of Dubai's trade. Al-Shamsi called on Brazil to direct its attention towards the marketing procedures which involve establishing a permanent Brazilian commercial representation in Dubai which is considered to be the economic regional gate, and participating in the international exhibitions held in Dubai, which number around 50 a year, as well as sending marketing delegations to establish stronger relations with the business institutions in the Gulf.
The Brazilian Trade Ministry representative expressed full understanding of how important it is to consolidate relations with Dubai. He also expressed how impressed he was with the dynamic trade activity, and the plans for a developed commercial infrastructure which he witnessed in Dubai. He mentioned that a commercial Brazilian delegation will visit Dubai next month, and that Brazil is keen on participating in the international exhibitions held in Dubai, and will work on intensifying this participation in the future.
Dubai's imports from Brazil have reached around 400 billion Emirati dirhams, which represents 50 percent of Dubai's imports. Imports from Brazil include mineral, chemical and animal products, as well as transport equipment and agricultural products. — (menareport.com)
