The Blue Stream Natural Gas Project, a joint venture between Turkey and Russia is scheduled to come on stream by December. The pipeline will pump 12 million cubic meters of Russian gas to the Republic daily. The 1,200 kilometer link is valued at $3.4 billion, reported Radikal

Developed by Russia’s Gazprom and Italy’s ENI Energy Group, the project consists of a gas pipeline linking Russia to Turkey built under the Black Sea. Originally planned to go on stream in October 2001, the venture was postponed because of financial and logistical difficulties.

Gazprom currently provides Turkey with 13 billion cubic meters of gas annually, transported through a pipeline that passes through Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. The Blue Stream Pipeline will increase Russia’s gas shipments to the Republic by another 16 billion cubic meters. — (menareport.com)
