Richard Makepeace, British Ambassador to the UAE, said that the value of bilateral trade between the UAE and the UK hit £ 6.5 billion last year, of which £ 4.5 billion UK's exports to the UAE and £ 2 billion UK's imports from the UAE.
According to Al-Khaleej newspaper, he said that more than one million tourists from the UK had visited the UAE last year. The ambassador added that 120,000 Britons are employed in the UAE. He also said that the two countries operate 30 daily flights between each other.
