It is unlikely that the Federal Reserve will tighten its loose monetary policy at any time soon, Chairman Ben Bernanke of the Federal Reserve said in an op-ed piece he wrote for the Wall Street Journal. "Economic conditions are not likely to warrant tighter monetary policy for an extended period," Bernanke said in the WSJ article published moments ago. He also noted that "accommodative policies will likely be warranted for an extended period," but that as an economic recovery begins to show life, they "will need to tighten monetary policy to prevent the emergence of an inflation problem."
