New figures released by Future Source (DTC), a worldwide research and knowledge-based consulting company, shows that BenQ projectors tops Mid East & Africa projector market in the third quarter 2008 with a distinct lead over competitors.

The report said BenQ Middle East overtook Epson to top the list during the third quarter of 2008, with 6,166 units and with a market share of 16 per cent, followed by Epson with 5,393 units and a 14 per cent share and Toshiba with 3,552 units and a 9.21 market share.
Currently BenQ is ranked Number one in KSA (129.08%) & Number 2 in projectors in the UAE (9.58%). Phenomenal year-on-year growth in Saudi Arabia & Rest of the Middle East (299.20%) was a major hallmark in Q308. Overall, the BenQ Group is in a solid position – ranked one among top three in 31 countries.
BenQ was the leader in Saudi Arabia with 1,883 units and with 14.77 per cent market share, closely followed by NEC with 1,831 units and with 14.36 per cent market share and Optoma with 1,677 units and with 13.15 market share. BenQ also stands at Number one in the worldwide DLP projector market as per current DTC rankings.

“MEA growth varied significantly by country, but it is clearly evident that the launch of latest Short Throw technology projectors, much ahead of the competitors in Q308, is the major factor behind our impressive performance and has enhanced our overall market presence & projector market share across the Middle East. Most importantly, BenQ has grabbed the top spot (in short throw projectors) in 10 countries including Japan, a highly demanding & competitive market.”
The all new BenQ MP512ST & MP522ST, MP771 projectors, which make up BenQ's new short-throw projector series, delivers larger pictures at shorter distances. With its short-throw ratio lens precisely calculated and positioned, these projectors are able to deliver large-screen projection in tight spaces without jeopardizing picture quality.
“Our key to success has always been product innovation and technology that facilitates user convenience. Plus, consistent focus, dedicated resources and over 10 years of proficiency in projector technology has formed a solid foundation for robust year-on-year growth in market share,” said Bakshi.
A tight retail channel network was also a key factor for extraordinary volume growth. The company’s proactive approach in establishing a good channel network with big-hitting distributors has helped it strengthen local support, claims BenQ. Right from keeping the distributors updated on the latest BenQ technology such as the in-built short throw projectors, wide XGA resolution and HDMI Connectivity to organizing regular dealer meets/product launch seminars, BenQ does it all as part of its ongoing strategy to achieve the highest levels of channel confidence.
Plus a series of firsts (launching new technologies before competitors) has also assisted BenQ lift its brand image for projectors when compared to other player in the industry.
