The mobile telephone network in Egypt has begun providing value-added telecommunications services. One of these services provides the subscriber with the opportunity to monitor his/her bank account through a cellular phone, al Ahram daily reports.

The new service also allows the user to become acquainted with currency rates and the Cairo Stock Exchange's trade data. The announcement of this new service was declared in a recent press conference by an Egyptian private bank and a local mobile telephone operator, Mobinil. According to Mr. Othman Sultan from Mobinil, this launch is the first step that will include all local and foreign banks in Egypt. He concluded by saying that this service would allow the subscriber to receive information on his/her bank account at any given time, including weekends and vacations. - albawaba.com
