Parliament members of Bahrain on Tuesday requested a ten percent raise in pensions for all government employees.

Presently, government employee pensions stand at 80 percent of employees' regular salaries; MP's have asked that pensions rise to 90 percent, with a minimum payment of BD180 per month, according to Gulf Daily News .

However, employee contributions to the Pension Fund Commission would also be increased.

The issue will reportedly be discussed next week in parliament with the attendance of Bahrain's Finance Minister and Pension Fund Commission chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
