Bahrain's government has posted an impressive BD3.5 billion rise in its Gross National Product. This was revealed at Sunday's Cabinet session presided over by the Kingdom's Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. It means that the GNP growth at stable prices witnessed a 7.8 per cent increase in 2005 versus a 56 per cent increase the previous year, the GDN reported.

The figure has exceeded all expectations - despite an 8.5 per cent  fall in oil production from the Abu Safa and Bahrain oil fields, said the paper.
