One of Bahrain's five municipal councils is behind with the rent - on its own headquarters, according to the GDN. Now, the Northern Municipal Council has been asked for BD10,164 - six months rent - up front, to stay in the Janabiya villa it uses as its premises.
The council's lease on the villa expired on July 31, but it continued to use the property, the report added.
