The Bahraini Ministry of Information has raided a company that was allegedly using illegal software in Manama. Some 25 computers were found in the company's offices, all loaded with illegal software.
This case follows several other operations that were conducted recently to curb illegal activities in the kingdom. Last month the Ministry raided a computer reseller found dealing in counterfeit software. The Business Software Alliance (BSA) welcomed this action, which demonstrates the Bahraini government's resolve in implementing copyright laws.
The BSA works to enhance awareness in the Middle East companies about the importance of respecting copyright laws and implementing software license agreements, which state that each software copy used on each PC should be licensed individually. Many companies are only “partially legal” which means that they purchase a legal software package but install it on several computers without obtaining the proper licenses. — (menareport.com)
