Batelco Manager Sameer Nooruddin has been appointed chief operating officer of customer services. Born and raised in Bahrain, “Nooruddin's appointment is significant because it reinforces the fact that Batelco is, very largely, a Bahraini company,” Batelco's Chairman Shaikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa said.

“The majority of the top management team is Bahraini and the 2,000-strong workforce is an overwhelming 95 percent Bahraini," he added. The new COO was previously general manager of Business development and, as such, was largely responsible for forming Batelco's joint-venture companies in Egypt and Jordan.

He added: "The experience around the world has been that competition in a telecoms market has improved the customer experience and that's what Batelco aims to concentrate on: the customer. Batelco is a national asset to the nation and will focus sharply on enhancing the lifestyles and business effectiveness of the Kingdom's people," stated Nooruddin. — (menareport.com)
