Bahraini authorities are powerless to take back areas of Tubli Bay that were acquired illegally, according to municipal councillors. But, cited by the GDN, they claim they can refuse permission to carry out reclamation work in the bay, which is a protected area.
A study has indicated many areas were purchased illegally, while others own deeds registered with the Land Registration Bureau, said council technical affairs committee chairman, Sadiq Rahma.
