Roads in Juffair and the Seef District are expected to be widened to accommodate an expected surge in traffic as new high-rises are erected. Experts claim that if the roads are not widened, the traffic situation could deteriorate even further, the GDN reported.
"The taller the buildings are the more traffic they will generate and we should be ready to accommodate it through a stronger roads network," an official was quoted as saying.
Currently, buildings in general are allowed to go up to 20 storeys in both areas.
