Bahrain projects $689 million deficit for FY 2003

The Bahraini Cabinet recently approved a draft state budget prepared in cooperation with the World Bank. The budget projects a deficit of 260 million Bahrani dinars ($689 million) for fiscal year 2003 and BD 266.9 million in fiscal year 2004. State revenues for the year FY03 and FY04 are expected to reach 790 million and BD 795 million, respectively. 

 

Bahrain posted a budget surplus of $14 million in 2000. The trade balance posted a surplus of $1.08 billion in 2000, up from $441.6 million the previous year. The balance of payments soared to almost $200 million from $25.4 million in 1999. — (menareport.com)
