A group of five Bahraini MPs on Tuesday vowed to protect homeowners whose properties could stand in the path of a major new highway. "Not a single home in Saraya 2 should be flattened to make way for the road," one of the MPs was quoted as saying by the GDN.
The highway, which would provide access to the upcoming BD1 billion Northern Town, was set to cut through the Saraya 2 housing area - resulting in the demolition of up to 200 homes and other buildings.
