The State of Bahrain has been working towards achieving a Gulf Tariff Free System. Chaired by Emir Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa, the Bahraini cabinet recently decided to decrease the customs tax imposed on commodities and cars that enter Bahrain by five percent, to be effective in 2002.
Currently, the tax for general merchandise stands at 7.5 percent and 15 percent for cars, reported Al-Hayat . The cabinet also decided to exempt food products from all customs fees. — (menareport.com)
