Substantial discounts have been offered by Saudi car dealers in the past few months, reported KsaToday newspaper. The auto agencies maintain that the discounts, affecting all car models, result from a recently implemented government policy reducing customs rates.

However, other market sources attribute the price fall to s standard sales strategy, which is usually implemented at the beginning of each summer vacation . Official statistics show that the number of registered automobiles in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia grew by nearly 20 percent between 1993 and 1998, from 5,861,614 cars to 7,046,154. ― (MENA Report)
