Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality for Planning and Building Affairs Hussein Nasser Lootah received an Australian delegation headed by Deputy Secretary at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Australia, Don Banfield.
The two representatives discussed ways to boost existing trade ties between the two countries. Lootah noted that Dubai and Australian cities maintain outstanding relations especially in the fields of trade and agriculture. There have been several exchanges of visits and expertise in various fields serving peoples of both the countries.
Banfield said that his visit is aimed at discussing ways of developing trade and agriculture ties. He noted that his delegation has already held several talks with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) agriculture ministry officials in this regard.
According to figures released by the Australian Embassy, Australia exported 29.6 million Autralian dollars ($22.6 million) worth of live animals, AUD 11.76 million worth of bovine products and AUD 54.6 million worth of meat products to the UAE during 2002-2003. — (menareport.com)
