Aramex International, a provider of transportation solutions in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent has been appointed as the exclusive transportation provider for Chancel International.

Chancel International, one of the region’s largest suppliers of humanitarian supplies and emergency relief material to United Nations (UN) aid agencies worldwide, has channeled an estimated 90,000 kilograms of humanitarian aid to Iraq via Aramex’s network since April.

“Aid continues to arrive to Dubai from various locations worldwide. We have already received 36 40-foot containers by sea freight from China, Karachi and Rotterdam to Dubai port to be re-forwarded later to a number of aid agencies in Iraq,” said Senior Vice President Cargo of Aramex International, Safwan Tannir. “Furthermore, we have recently dispatched five chartered flights of hygiene kits weighing 112,370 kilograms to Adana Airport in Turkey which are being forwarded to Northern Iraq,” Tannir added.

Almost 940,000 kilograms of aid has already arrived to Dubai and Sharjah Airports from Pakistan via 19 chartered flights and Aramex has subsequently warehoused the consignments and plans to forward all this volume to Baghdad and other Iraqi cities in a phased manner over the coming weeks and months. These aid shipments mainly consist of essential items such as tents, blankets, hygiene kits, plastic tarpaulins and kerosene heaters.

Aramex International offers express package delivery, freight forwarding, logistics and other transportation services. The company has in its twenty-year history formed a global network spanning over 250 countries worldwide. — (menareport.com)
