ALBAWABA -  American multinational corporation Apple has recently announced layoffs that were tied to its recent closure of the car project, marking it the company's biggest job cut since the pandemic, as reported by the Time of India.

The report claimed that the Silicon Valley-based company is laying off more than 600 employees (around 371 employees of whom worked on the car), which impacted many teams across the corporation. According to California's laws, employees are usually given a 60-day notice before a mass layoff operation such as this one.

According to Bloomberg, more than 87 employees worked on Apple's halted next-generation screens. Bloomberg added that the reason the company didn't go forward with its car development and production was because of concern over not making the profit needed for the company's standards.

On the other hand, the display screens seem to have halted development due to engineering, supplier, and cost issues. San Francisco Chronicle reported that the layoffs in question will reportedly take place in May. 27, 2024.
