Apex has a complete 254 fossil bone pieces out of 319, as the bones were shielded by a sandstone that helped keep them preserved. It is remarkable to note that Apex is almost 150 million years old.
The famous fossil was sold for $45.8 million (£35.2 million), which ranks as the highest in auction history. Apex buyer’s identity remains unidentified but it was reported that the fossil will be given to a US institution for exploration purposes. Sotheby’s announced that Apex was discovered in America and will remain there.
