The Abu Dhabi-based Al Manhal International Group (AMIG), had signed an initial agreement with the eastern Uttar Pradesh government in India, according to which it will lead a consortium in a $1.7 billion gas pipeline and power plant project, reported Gulf News.

AMIG is currently involved in other pipeline projects in India.

Exact financial details and a timetable for the Uttar Pradesh project have yet to be finalized, but talks were expected to resume in early September, a source said. Reportedly, the project involves an existing project at Gopalpur in Orissa, where a pipeline will be extended north from Orissa to Uttar Pradesh."

AMIG is already involved in a joint venture with Indian partner Vavasi Oil and Gas Ltd, involving a multi-billion dollar project at Gopalpur. That project involves the construction of a LNG receiving terminal, a petrochemicals plant to process urea and ammonia, a 1,000 km pipeline to southern states, and a 2,000-megawatt gas fired power station complex. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
