American Express Middle East will be one of the main sponsors of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) initiative, Dubai The City That Cares 2002. The annual shopping event officially organized by DCCI will take place in Dubai during the month of Ramadan.
American Express Middle East will run a scratch card promotion for American Express Cardmembers who will be given a Card for every 100 Emirati dirham ($27) purchase at participating outlets. The scratch and win prizes include desert safari packages, jewelry and CDs.
American Express has been operating in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 1957. In 1994, when loyalty programs were mostly unheard of, the global card issuer launched the Membership Rewards Program in the Middle East. In May 2001, American Express introduced its first local currency credit card.

Operating in 19 markets, AEME issues dollar currency credit and charge cards: Personal, Gold, Platinum, as well as Company and Corporate cards.
