UAE real estate major Nakheel recently awarded a multi million-dollar contract for work on Dubai Maritime City (DMC) to Amana Constructing and Steel Building, a regional leader in construction of commercial and industrial facilities.

The 86,000 square meter mega DMC project is comprised of 11 individual commercial buildings and a range of workshops, warehouses, shops and showrooms, according to Khaleej Times.

Amana is expected to design and build this project on a fast track basis in less than 410 days.

"This is a strategic and operational milestone for Amana as it demonstrates the company's leadership in the fast track, turnkey construction of commercial and industrial facilities," said the General Manager of Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings in Dubai, Jihad Bsaibes.

Nakheel, the master developer of the project, also reportedly commissioned Turner International as the Project Managers, and Al Wasl Al Jadeed as the Design Consultants for the project.

The DMC concept was driven by the needs of both local and international marine and maritime communities for a dedicated hub in the region. The development will create for the first time ever a purpose built maritime cluster, building dedicated areas and facilities and creating an environment to encourage industry integration and offer new growth opportunities.
