ALBAWABA – Apple seems to be planning on having an eventful year, starting with the release of its ambitious Vision Pro headset, tapping into a new genre of products for the first time in a long while, to the upcoming iOS 18, coupled with plenty of AI features. Yet, the company has announced another event on May 7, and rumors are spreading like wildfire, here’s what we know so far:
The special Apple event hints at the major reveal, a highly anticipated upgrade coming to the iPad, with the marketing material for the event invitations showing a colorful Apple logo aesthetically blending with a hand holding an Apple Pencil, affirming the focus of the show.
According to The Verge, rumor has it that the iPad Pro will receive some of the biggest upgrades since the 2021 M1 redesign, including an OLED display and an upgraded M3 chipset. A redesign of the Magic Keyboard with a bigger touchpad and a sturdier aluminum build is also expected.
A 12.9-inch screen is believed to appear on the next iPad Air, which is expected to follow in the footsteps of the 10.9-inch model, bringing the range considerably closer to the 12.9- and 11-inch choices on the iPad Pro, according to Bloomberg’s Apple analyst, Mark Gurman.
The new iPad line-up will be garnished with a new model of the Apple Pencil, Gurman adds, marking the third generation of the stylus.
About 5.9 percent of Apple’s first quarter $119.58 revenue, which ended in December 30, came from iPad sales, according to Reuters, which adds that although customers are cutting back on non-essential spending and financial instability is placing pressure on the tablet industry, Apple anticipates that new products will counteract the decline in demand.
