The famous Chinese company announced the release of its new artificial intelligence (AI) model, named R1-Omni. The company stated at the launch that the new AI model is capable of recognizing human emotions easily and effectively.
Alibaba is seeking to compete with major AI companies in the field, such as OpenAI. The company developed the new R1-Omni AI model through its Alibaba TongYi Vision Intelligence Lab.

According to Bloomberg, the new R1-Omni AI model is currently available as an open-source model. Upon release, the AI model successfully managed to recognize users' emotions from video clips and was able to describe their surroundings.
Notably, the company released this new AI model amid the current competition in the market and the buzz around DeepSeek. Alibaba is concentrating on strengthening its position in the AI field and is investing heavily in AI tools and applications.
