ALBAWABA – Alibaba, the Chinese multinational technology company specializing in e-commerce, retail, internet, and technology, has announced the launch of its new artificial intelligence (AI) model. The company claims this model surpasses DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company that develops open-source large language models (LLM).
Alibaba launches Qwen 2.5 AI model
The renowned Chinese company has launched its new artificial intelligence (AI) model, Qwen 2.5. The company claims this new model will surpass DeepSeek's-V3 model.
Alibaba's cloud unit stated: “Qwen 2.5-Max outperforms ... almost across the board GPT-4o, DeepSeek-V3 and Llama-3.1-405B.”
Notably, Alibaba released the new AI model on the first day of the Lunar New Year as most people were off work, in aims to compete with DeepSeek’s latest version.
It is worth noting that Alibaba’s new Qwen 2.5 AI model is a visual-language model. Qwen 2.5 is launched in various sizes, ranging from 3 billion, 7 billion to 72 billion parameters, and includes base and instruction-tuned versions.

DeepSeek V3
DeepSeek has released its V3 model with significant features that outperform ChatGPT and Llama. Developers can now download and modify the new DeepSeek V3 model to perform multiple tasks, including coding and translation.
The company officially surpassed ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI, in United Stated App store downloads this week.
