In 2003, the Algerian balance of trade of registered a surplus of US$10.83 billion.
According to data provided by the National Centre of Statistics and Information of Customs (CNIS), and cited by AAI, last year imports rose by 8.32 percent, from US$12 billion in 2002 to us$13 billion in 2003.
In addition, exports went up by 26.62 percent, from US$18,82 billion in 2002 to US$23.83 billion last year.
Revenues from hydrocarbon exports, which represent the main part of Algeria's exports are estimated at US$23,17 billion compared to US$18,09 billion in 2002, the data indicated.
