A confidential report prepared by the Algerian government uncovered that authorities are debating official closure of the country’s main dams which supply water to the capital, if the current drought continues, reported Al-Hayat . The government could close the Qadara, Bani Omran and Humeiz dams before the end of next month. The drought presently threatens the well being of three million city dwellers. The government decided to set up a number of water desalinizing units and water pumping facilities in the areas suffering from water shortage. — (menareport.com)
