Alcatel to provide Etisalat with voice network expansion

Alcatel has been chosen by Etisalat, the United Arab Emirates' operator for fixed and mobile networks, to expand and modernize its fixed network. This contract foresees the deployment of 38,000 new telephones lines in the country as well as the offer of new telecommunication services. 

 

Under the terms of this contract, Alcatel will provide its Alcatel 1000 MM switching systems. The system is a next generation switch designed to pave the way to Next Generation Network (NGN).  

 

The Alcatel 1000 MM features high processing capability of 8M BHCA and allows operators to build large exchanges of up to 16,000 PCMs or 200 000 subscribers. The Alcatel 1000 systems are present in more than 145 countries and total more than 320 million terminations.
