French GSM supplier Alcatel has signed a €14 million contract with Pakistan’s Mobilink, a subsidiary of Egypt’s Orascom Telecom, to increase the capacity of their network by one million subscribers.

Alcatel will provide Mobilink with its EvoliumT solution comprising Mobile Switching Centers (MSC) which can handle large volumes of traffic and deliver very high capacity, with only a limited amount of equipment, enabling the operator to reach higher levels of CAPEX and OPEX efficiency.

Mobilink in Pakistan started operations in 1994 and is the first cellular service provider in the country to operate on 100 percent digital GSM technology. Orascom Telecom has eighteen licenses covering the Middle East region and the largest Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Egypt through LINKdotNET. — (menareport.com)
