Al Rostamani Trading Company (ARTC), the sole distributor of Suzuki vehicles in the UAE, has announced a 213 per cent growth in sales for the first five months of 2007 compared to the same period last year. The company has attributed this impressive performance to the high increase in demand for the Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Swift models.

Following this growth, the company has also decided to introduce the highly popular small car, Suzuki Alto in the UAE, which is expected to further enhance the Suzuki brand and cater to a wider market segment.

Setrak Mechedjian, General Manager, Al Rostamani Trading Company, said, “We have carried forward our sales momentum from 2006, and going by the sales figures we have achieved for the first few months of this year, we are certain to exceed our sales forecast for 2007. The ever-increasing popularity of the Grand Vitara and the Swift models in the UAE has been a key factor in achieving such remarkable sales figures, and now the launch of Alto means that customers have another reliable, value-for-money and fuel efficient car from the Suzuki stable to choose from.”

“Other factors such as management restructuring, new marketing approach with more brand awareness activities and an impressive after sales facilities, have also contributed to improving the sales in the recent months,” he added.

The Suzuki Alto being launched in the UAE is known for its agility, compactness and low running costs - factors that ARTC believes will influence the purchase decision of middle-income individuals and companies requiring a dependable and cost-effective car for their employees or as an addition to their fleet. The Alto – that has been bought by over 7.5 million customers worldwide since its debut - boasts of high levels of comfort, fuel economy, convenience, space efficiency, and safety, making it well suited for everyday use.

“The Alto has been the number one selling car in India for the past 10 years, and for a good reason. The 1.1-litre 16-valve engine offers maximum fuel efficiency and minimal running costs, making this the vehicle’s competitive advantage in the UAE, especially since it is mainly targeted at middle-income individuals who are looking for a cost-effective yet reliable small car. In the UAE, since we are so dependent on cars everyday, it makes sense to have a compact, easy to operate vehicle that also has ample head and leg space and luggage room – and this sums up Alto’s packaging concept of ‘Compact yet Spacious’,” said Mechedjian.
