Aggreko International Power Projects, a business unit of the worlds' leading energy solutions provider, Aggreko, is executing a 23 megawatt contract to power media broadcasting equipment, floodlights and scoreboard systems at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan.
To ensure that spectators around the world will enjoy uninterrupted coverage of games, the broadcasting authorities for the 2002 World Cup finals demanded the highest levels of integrity and reliability from their power supply. Consequently, Aggreko was selected by the Japan Organizing Committee for the 2002 World Cup (JAWOC) to be the sole supplier of temporary electrical power generation and distribution for the 10 world cup venues in Japan.
Aggreko worked in conjunction with MyEnergy, the electrical consultants appointed by JAWOC to design a system with a high level of redundancy and is now supplying a comprehensive package of generators, bunded fuel tanks and electrical power distribution systems at each stadium, up to and including each camera and commentary position.
Under a separate contract, signed with Host Broadcast Services (HBS), Aggreko is providing the services of 10 of its electrical specialists to ensure smooth transition of power from the distribution equipment to the broadcast vehicles. The company's third World Cup contract is with Kinden Corporation, provider of integrated engineering systems in the energy, communication and environment sectors. Under this contract Aggreko is supplying a four megawatt power package for the floodlight system and scoreboard for the final match at Yokohama.
Aggreko has a long history of providing power and cooling solutions to some of the world's largest sporting events. The Aggreko Event Services division is dedicated to serving the specialist power generation and distribution needs of this demanding market, from the design stage through to power delivery to the end user. — (menareport.com)
