Aggreko’s Saudi branch supplies power to Sri Lanka

Aggreko International’s Saudi subsidiary located in Jebel Ali recently signed four new contracts with Sri Lanka’s Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to provide short-term temporary power to help relieve the ongoing power shortages in the country, confirmed a press release. Aggreko will provide a total of 80 Mega Watts of power to the greater Columbo region. 

 

The company will supply a complete range of equipment including generators, transformers, and switchgear as well as the manpower to operate and maintain the equipment. The first site, located in Kosgama has been operational since February with the remaining three sites becoming operational by March 12. The contracts are scheduled to run until the middle of 2002.  

 

This is the third time Aggreko has provided power to Sri Lanka. In 1996, Aggreko supplied a total of 93 Mega Watts at five different sites and a total of 98 Mega Watts at four different sites in 2001.  

 

Based in the Netherlands, Aggreko power solutions include generators, load banks, transformers, fuel tanks, cables and switchgear.
