Advertisements of illegal pets and exotic animals for sale in UAE have been making the rounds on websites online.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment affirmed that it is currently working on an initiative that warns residents against such dangerous practices, as per Emarat Al Youm report.
Among the dangerous animals are lions, poisonous snakes, tigers, cheetahs, foxes and rare dogs. They can cost anywhere from Dh3,000 up to Dh10,000.
Violators will face prison time and a fine of no less than Dh50,000 and up to Dh500,000.

Harbouring, breeding, owning and sharing dangerous animals - except for in designated facilities - is illegal. Such facilities include natural preserves, zoos, animal parks, circus, breeding centres, and wildlife refugee areas.
