Acer Computer Middle East has announced today that deals to a value of over US$15m were concluded last week with three Arab Ministries of Education (MoE) which will see a total of more than 16,000 desktop units delivered before the end of October 2006.
The largest deal, a US$12m tender from the Jordanian MoE, led to the provision of 12,000 ‘Veriton’ Desktops with Acer also providing a pre-tender consultancy role to the Ministry.
Acer also concluded significant deals with the MoEs in the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain, each to a value of more than US$1.5m.

“As requirements in the education sector increasingly come to rely on modern IT equipment and infrastructure, it is not simply a case of which vendor can provide a certain number of PC units. It is more about which company can truly understand, feel and participate in the growth of a country’s education system,” added Kachroo.
With a dedicated team that deals exclusively in the education sector, Acer is clearly positioned to be the long-term vendor of choice for the region’s education solutions and is supported by the IT vendor’s already long-established relationships with many regional ministries and governments.
In related news, Acer also announced that it has cemented another longstanding relationship with the UAE’s Sharjah University – an order of 1,200 PCs to the value of around US$1m was also concluded this week.
