Acer Computer Middle East recently announced an overall sales growth of 20 percent for 2001 compared with results from 2000. The company saw an 80 percent growth rate in its PC segment and a 62 percent growth rate in its enterprise server units segment, confirmed a press release.
Acer attributes the sales growth to major wins in the educational and governmental sectors, which included deals with Ministries of Education, Defense, Interior and Water Resources. A strong penetration of country-specific ISP infrastructure and the company's launch of service initiatives, as well as concentration on training for channel members operating across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) also boosted Acer’s revenues.
Moreover, Acer's supply of PCs for Bahrain's Batelco Internet subscribers, also contributed to significant growth for its GCC operation in the year 2001.
Established in 1976, Acer employs marketing and service operations across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, supporting dealers and distributors in over 100 nations. It's Middle East operations, based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone were initiated in 1992, administering markets in 15 Middle East and North African countries.
Acer Computer Middle East has its own facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The 22,500 square meter regional headquarters includes a managed warehouse, a Unique Loading (Uniload) assembly plant and a customer and technical Service capable of handling component-level repairs.
