The French Accor group announced plans to invest 70 million Euro in the Tunisian tourism industry. Tunisian Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi and the Minister of Tourism, Abderrahim Zouari, met with the President of the Accor group of hotels to discuss implementation of the deal. This year Tunisia celebrated the arrival of the millionth tourist from France. French tourism to Tunisia has risen considerably in the past few years.
Tourism in Tunisia employs 85,000 people directly and 220,000 indirectly and accounts for 7% of GDP – about 1.5 billion Euro. There is an average of 5 million tourists a year to Tunisia. (menareport.com)
