Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry generated AED 3.7 bn of GDP in 2005 and posted an annual growth of 17% in the past two years, a study by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has shown. The industry created 32,028 jobs last year, which accounts for 3.3% of total employment.
According to Emirates Today, the tourism sector employed 73,494 people or 7.6% of all employment in the emirate in 2005. ADTA is also using the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) to measure and track the tourism economy. The TSA is the international standard for measuring the contribution of tourism to the economy.
