DHL, the Kingdom’s leading express and logistics provider, today announced more than 75 percent of its shipments in Bahrain are paperless using the upgraded DHL Connect system.
DHL Connect, DHL’s web-based customer interface is a desktop internet enabled software solution for small to medium volume shippers. It has a comprehensive range of support functions for managing international shipments, from scheduling bookings to document creation, packaging orders and detailed tracking.
Mr. Haney Baket, National IT Manager for DHL Bahrain said: “We rolled out the DHL Connect service eight years ago to streamline and further speed up customer shipments with tracking on the airway bill number, reference number or date. The newly introduced interface is a further enhanced tool with a customised management reporting system. Our customers will only require an internet access and a DHL account to benefit from this initiative.”
DHL Express customers, who benefit greatly from the reduced time-cost and integrated, tracking functions, heavily use the service. More than 1,200 DHL customers were using the service at the end of 2006.
The software can also help customers with their pickup scheduling and customs paperwork preparation and can be integrated with the address books of most personal organisers. Approximately 15,000 shipments per month are sent using the DHL Connect system in Baharin, and the number is growing daily.
