The 53rd Damascus International Fair opened Sunday (September 03, 2006), with the participation of countries from all over the world. The Damascus International Fair is one of the main channels of activating and invigorating the economy in the field of international trade exchange.
China is the biggest participant in the Fair, which is held at the New Ground Fair.
In a press conference on the occasion of opening of the Fair, General Director Imad al-Zoubi said " The new news in the current session of this fair is the participation of China after six years stop, in addition to the wide contribution of Iran and its occupation of a big hall with a size of 2600 sq. m.."
He added that there will be a big participation of the Korean Trade Center, including 60 companies.
"The rented area at Damascus International Fair reached at 76913 sq. m. and the new city of the Ground Fair which opened since three years becomes equal to the international shows after Syrian engineers and technicians supply it with new equipments and services," Mr. al-Zoubi announced.
According to SANA, he underlined that the Fair exempted the disabled along with one accompanied person from paying the entrance fees , adding that the fair ground supplied with equipment to facilitate the entrance and exit for persons of special needs.
The UAE, for instance, continues its strong participation in the annual event with the fourth edition of its “Made in UAE” series. The UAE pavilion, which showcases a diverse range of exhibits, attracted several hundred visitors on the opening day.
Following the success of the 'Made in UAE' series held in Yemen, Tanzania, Oman and Syria, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company is now participating in the Damascus International Fair which opens the way for the participating national companies to strike huge commercial deals and contracts worth millions of Dirhams. It is part of the government’s plan to support the national economy and consolidate the role of local companies by opening new markets for national products, boosting UAE’s exports and furthering cooperation with other countries. The UAE’s participation through the “Made in UAE” series is an indicator of the healthy ties between the UAE and Syria.
The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company, the organising company of the “Made in UAE” series, has confirmed that previous participations had generated huge response from visitors who were impressed by UAE’s exhibits that reflected the progress and all-round development of the UAE.
Previous participations have been in line with the country’s strategy to support the local economy, target new markets for local products and consolidate cooperation with other countries. In an effort to boost the export of local products, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company is keen on ensuring UAE’s presence in similar exhibitions and fairs which give an opportunity to introduce and market the country’s products to the outside world.
The “Made in UAE” series at the 53rd Damascus International Fair will be showcasing some of the UAE's finest products and services such as, production of solid metals, gypsum, false ceilings, building material, sugar refining techniques, date products, canning, vegetables’ industry, interior design products, exhibition services, investment services, economic cities, Chambers of Commerce & Industry services, in addition to other sevices and local products.
Under the directives of its Board of Directors, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company is investing all its efforts to ensure the success of the “Made in UAE” series which is organised in cooperation with the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry, the Ministry of Finance & Industry and the Ministry of Economy & Planning.
