More than 200 companies from 27 countries from around the world are expected to take part in Intersec 2004, the sixth international safety, security, police, fire and rescue exhibition due to take place from January 25 – 27, 2004 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
Being held under the patronage of the Dubai Police Department, Intersec caters to one of the fastest growing business sectors in the Gulf, according to Epoc Messe Frankfurt’s Imke Huelsmann. Epoc Messe Frankfurt are the organizers of Intersec 2004. "The strategic role of safety and security in ensuring sound structural and infrastructure development has encouraged policy makers to lay extra emphasis on the development of existing systems and employing state-of-the-art technologies in this field," she said.
Public safety and security sources estimate Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region’s non-military spending on safety and fire fighting systems at about $1.35 billion per annum, making it among the fastest growing sectors in the region.
Huelsmann believes that a large portion of the overall safety budget goes towards enhancing security systems and on development of public safety programs in the Gulf region. She attributes this exceptional growth that exceeds 10 percent annually to upgrading safety standards, focus on enhancing security and fire control installations in hospitals, hotels, shopping centers, factories and industrial firms, commercial and residential buildings, banks and financial institutions, ports and premises of security departments.
Intersec 2004 has attracted 10 national pavilions from Germany, United Kingdom, Korea, Italy, France, USA, South Africa, China, Taiwan and Turkey. This is in addition to several top-notch participants from Austria, Spain, Kuwait, Saudi, Japan, Greece, Hong Kong, Belgium, Russia, Canada, Singapore, Sweden, Bahrain, Lebanon, Australia, India and leading suppliers from other countries and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). — (menareport.com)
