According to Al-Mendhar newspaper, the technical and engineering companies of the Iraqi Water Authority have started digging 1,500 new wells for water in Kirkuk and the northern Iraqi districts. This activity comes in the framework of a major campaign aimed at digging a large number of wells to assure adequate water supply to villagers in the districts of Kirkuk, Irbil, Sulaimaniya and Dahok. Last year, the authority executed 106 wells by $1 million costs in Kirkuk, 21 wells in Irbil, 7 wells in Dahouk and 7 wells in Sulaimaniya.
